Behind every bottle at The Great East Coast Chilli Fest is a story. Meet the Makers celebrates the chilli growers, artisanal sauce makers and food entrepreneurs who bring the heat to Durban, and the passion, patience and craft that go into everything they make.

  From Sunwich Port on the KZN South Coast, The Phrase makes homemade fudge, toffee and ten inventive chilli sauces, from Bird’s Eye & Strawberry to Chocolate Reaper & Black Cherry.

  Frankies Sauces & Marinades: Thirteen Years in the Making
  Durban couple Frank and Claire Dunn spent more than a decade perfecting their handmade hot sauces before launching Frankies Sauces & Marinades in 2021. This is the story behind every bottle.
