Some brands are built in a boardroom. Frankies Sauces & Marinades was built around the dinner table, one batch, one tasting and one honest opinion at a time.
Frankies is the work of Durban couple Frank and Claire Dunn, who started with a conviction that still guides everything they make: a hot sauce should do far more than set your mouth alight. It should lift the whole meal, with heat and flavour working together in harmony.
A hot sauce shouldn’t just burn your tongue. It should elevate your meal with a perfect, mouth-watering harmony of heat and flavour.

What sets their story apart is patience. Long before a single bottle went on sale, the Dunns spent more than a decade quietly experimenting, testing and refining their recipes among friends. As they see it, anyone can make a sauce that is hot. Making one that is fiery, layered and genuinely delicious takes time.

The Journey
From the Kitchen to the Market
After thirteen years of perfecting their craft, Frank and Claire officially launched Frankies Sauces & Marinades in May 2021, and Durban responded immediately. In a city that lives for the braai and values authentic, home-grown flavour, the brand quickly found its people and earned its place as a proud local artisan.
The journey is far from over. Frank and Claire are still in the kitchen, developing new ways to bring the perfect balance of heat and flavour to food lovers across South Africa.
